Joe Colopy builds and invests in tech startups through Colopy Ventures, based in Downtown Durham. Prior to Colopy Ventures, Joe was co-founder and CEO of Bronto Software, a leader in cloud-based commerce marketing automation for brands across the world. After being founded in 2002, Bronto grew organically to employ over 300 people across offices worldwide. In 2015, Bronto was acquired for $200mm by NetSuite, a cloud-based provider of financial applications. NetSuite was subsequently acquired by Oracle. Through his work with Bronto, Joe was a past winner of Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Carolinas.

Earlier in his career, Joe worked at Red Hat and was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer. He earned an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives happily with his wife, four children, dog, bees, two gerbils, and eleven chickens in Durham, North Carolina.
